Part of your UCAS application is writing a Personal Statement, but what does this involve? Your Personal Statement gives us an insight to your ambitions, skills and previous experience. It also lets us know why you’ve chosen to study one of our courses and shows your passion for your preferred path.
What needs to be included?
First off, we want to know about you!
Include why you’ve chosen this course. If you’re still not sure, make sure you check out our website where we break down all our courses as this will give you a better idea of what you’ll be studying. You can find these here.
Tell us about your experience in your chosen field, both in class and out. Also, what’s the future you dream of? Why are you choosing this course and what career path do you want to follow once you’ve completed your studies?
Anything else?
Tell us about your interests (not just music)! Whether it’s sports, hobbies or other languages you speak – we want to hear about what you know!
Some don’ts
Don’t exaggerate, we do have assessments so you could be caught out! And don’t leave it until the last minute, it’s important to take your time.
Make sure it’s all your own words. Don’t copy, and don’t share it with anyone else – you don’t want your Personal Statement being flagged as similar to someone else.

Final points
Make sure your Personal Statement is well written and articulate. Double-check your spelling. Ask someone else to proofread it for you as this will help to avoid any mistakes or typos!
