My name is Maya. I’m 19, and in my first year of my BA (Hons) Music Business degree at BIMM Institute Dublin. I moved back to Dublin from France to pursue this course. Well, to pursue my dreams, to be exact.
Why did you choose to study Music Business?
I chose to study Music Business because I’ve always been interested in the music industry. I used to want to be a singer on stage, but then later realised I didn’t want to necessarily be in the public eye. I much prefer being behind the scenes, helping everything happen. The work just seemed more appealing to me.
What are you looking forward to most about the course?
“I’m also looking forward to networking and meeting people who are already in the music industry.”
I’m most looking forward to being with people who have common interests with me and being able to bond and work together. Just being around people who understand you. I’m also looking forward to networking and meeting people who are already in the music industry. Also, just learning about the course modules and getting a better grip of what the course is about.
Are there any particular modules you’re looking forward to most?
The module I’m most excited about is Artist Management because that’s mainly where I see myself working. The Live Music module also interests me a lot because I like the idea of being a tour manager.
What are your career goals at the end of the course?
My career goals would be to own my own label at some point, but I’m not in any sort of rush. I also want to try artist management because that’s what drew me into the course in the first place. After I’ve finished the course, I might have completely new ideas on what I want to do. I just want to be able to do a job that I love by the end of BIMM.
