Hi, I’m Dean McTiernan and I am currently studying Music And Audio Production at BIMM Institute Dublin.
Why have you chosen to study Music and Audio Production?
I chose to study Music and Audio Production as I’ve always been very interested in music production and the skills and techniques that go along with it – from recording an artist or sound all the way to the finished project or song that we get to hear at the end. I have been in multiple bands growing up and I am now into more of the production side of things and making my own music, so I thought this would be the perfect course to develop my skills in that area.
What are looking forward to most about the course?

What I’m looking forward to most is developing my skills in all areas of music production and learning new skills from both lecturers and students too. I hope to build relationships and contacts with students as this could give the possibility of collaborating on projects. I also can’t wait to learn the different production styles and tastes students have as they could have techniques and ideas that I could bring in to my music to better it.
Are there any modules, in particular, you’re looking forward to most?
I’m looking forward to all the modules as they cover a wide range of areas within music and audio production. The one module I’m probably most looking forward to is Mixing, as I feel that it will help me the most with my own music projects. I also can’t wait to use the college studio and gear for the other modules.
What are your career goals at the end of the course?
It would be great to get a career at the end of this course. Throughout the course, I want to develop a strong enough portfolio that will hopefully help me with that. I think I would be very happy to work in any of the areas to do with the course as they would all be very interesting and enjoyable, and enjoying your job is the most important part.
