Performers College recently merged with ICTheatre, meaning you can now study at Performers College in two new exciting cities! We looked at what Manchester and Brighton have to offer training professionals outside the studio:

Manchester

Manchester is a vibrant northern metropolis with a rich industrial heritage and a thriving modern culture, with its large student population contributing significantly to the city’s dynamic atmosphere. The nightlife is renowned for its diversity, offering a wide range of entertainment options from traditional pubs to cutting-edge music venues. Manchester’s musical legacy, having produced iconic bands like Oasis and The Smiths, continues to influence its cultural scene.

Why train in Manchester?

Culturally, Manchester, and The Northern Quarter in particular, is a focal point for creativity and alternative culture, featuring independent boutiques, artisanal coffee shops, and impressive street art, providing a stimulating environment for students. There’s plenty to do in Manchester, from shows at the Palace Theatre, Opera House, or Bridgewater Hall to the annual Pride festival, to night life at clubs and bars like the O2 Academy and Gorilla, to shopping and eating out at Manchester’s many diverse restaurants.

From a practical point of view, Manchester offers relatively affordable accommodation and living expenses compared to other major UK cities, allowing students to manage their budgets more effectively, and Manchester’s extensive public transport network, including buses, trams, and trains, makes commuting within the city and to surrounding areas convenient and accessible.

Brighton

Situated on the south coast of England, Brighton is a charming seaside city known for its progressive attitude and relaxed lifestyle. Its unique blend of Regency architecture, bohemian spirit, and coastal location makes it an appealing destination for students seeking a distinctive university experience.

Why train in Brighton?

Brighton is renowned for its diverse and welcoming atmosphere, fostering an environment where students from all backgrounds can feel at home. Brighton Pride is one of the UK’s largest and most celebrated LGBTQ+ events, reflecting the city’s commitment to equality and diversity. The city is replete with independent businesses, from quaint bookshops to innovative eateries, encouraging exploration and creativity.

Iconic structures such as the Brighton Pier and the Royal Pavilion provide a backdrop of historical and cultural significance, enriching the student experience beyond what happens in class. Whether catching a musical at the Palace Theatre, a film at the Duke of York Cinema, or indulging in Brighton’s legendary nightlife at venues like Komedia, or one of the The city’s over 200 pubs and bars, you’ll never be short of fun.

Both Manchester and Brighton each have their own distinct character, making them great cities to train in – find out more about these great cities at one of our upcoming Open Days.
