‘Pegasus’ is the latest release from BIMM Institute London Graduates Zebrah.
The track’s theme focuses on the little things – having fun and letting go – perfect for kickstarting a new week. We caught up with Kevin and Pauline about the latest release and what we can expect next from them.
Describe your new track in three word:
K & P: bicycle, fun, groovy.
What inspired you when writing this track?
K: For this track, I was inspired by using my new (and first) synthesizer, it helped me focus on something other than the guitar.
P: My bike! It sounds silly, but I’m basically talking about me on my bike rides in Pegasus and the feeling of freedom that comes with it.
Are there any artists that inspire you when writing?
K: The french band L’imperatrice were definitely the main inspiration for this one. Especially the second, more disco inspired, part of the song.
What would you say makes your music unique?
P: I think it’s probably the mix of genres and how different music genres and artists influence Kevin and myself.
Do you have a process you follow when writing a song?
K: Pauline and I always write the core of the songs together then arrange it with the full band.
How has studying at BIMM helped you develop as an artist?
K: I’ve definitely gained confidence and fluidity in my songwriting thanks to my four years at BIMM Institute.
P: For me, BIMM Institute gave me the little push I needed to sort my life out and pursue a career in music! I would have kept on studying law otherwise.
What’s next for you?
We are recording more songs and performing. We have our first Sofar Sounds gig on the 26th November. Come say hi!
