Here they are discussing their BIMM Dublin experience so far…

Who are you listening to at the moment?

I’ve currently been listening to Bon Iver, Anderson.paak, the 1975 and a lot of Izzy Bizu. I can easily say that she’s my favourite artist at the moment.  I luckily got to see her perform live in the sugar club, and she was on a whole other level.  I just love her songs, unique vocal and her mixture of contemporary R&B and soul!

What do you love about Dublin?

I love the hustle and bustle of city life, there’s always something going on somewhere. Its rather exciting and a whole lot different to the small rural town I’m from in Derry! I think there’s a great music scene down here and there’s loads of opportunities and platforms to showcase your music; also there are lots of new and upcoming artists that are just crazy good!

Why Songwriting?

I’ve always been singing and writing songs from since I can remember.  So it was a really easy choice when it came to deciding on what I wanted to study at college.  I chose songwriting as I feel it gives me freedom to share my thoughts and feelings in my own artistic and unique way.  It also gives me the chance to learn new and interesting songwriting techniques used in the industry, that could help me not only in writing my own music but in writing for other artists too.

Last year I studied the CPD Diploma in Songwriting which I thought was a great introduction to BIMM Dublin.  It was like a taster of what BIMM could offer me, once I had started I couldn’t get enough. I felt like I developed a lot that year as my confidence grew, I was learning new things thus allowing me to grow immensely as a songwriter.  I then received advanced entry, which got me into the second year of the Commercial Modern Music course and now here I am!
