WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO AT THE MOMENT?
I’m searching for new music all the time through things like the Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify but some of my current favourites at the moment are Mr Jukes, Tom Misch and Angus and Julia Stone. I’m really into the new Foster the People tracks as well since seeing them perform at Somerset House where I also performed on the same day. There’s also the artists that I continually come back to; I feel like everyone has those. I always come back to artists like John Mayer, Lianne La Havas and Lucy Rose and have done for years. I love listening to the different eras of their work and how it has developed across their albums.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MANCHESTER?
Manchester is so vibrant, that’s the best way I can describe it. There’s never a dull moment and there’s always something happening somewhere. Living in the city centre has allowed me to immerse myself in the music scene and play some of the best shows of my career yet. There’s so much culture and pure energy it is hard not to fall in love with the place.
WHY SONGWRITING?
It just felt right. When I first viewed the course I had never heard of anything quite like it. I’m not the most technically talented musician but the one thing I had always believed in was my songwriting capabilities so it seemed like the right option for me. It was one of the best choices I could have made for myself, I haven’t look back since!
