This week BIMM Berlin Business Student, Anna Dungal. She kindly took the time out of her day to feature on our Who What Why?
WHO are you listening to at the moment?
The music I listen to is really influenced by the seasons. It’s getting much colder here in Berlin which makes me want to play lyric-based music, such as Joni Mitchell, the new Leonard Cohen and the new Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.
But I’ve also been starting to discover R&B for the first time in my life; I’ve been obsessed with Solange’s new album. I’m usually a lot more into rock and roll or singer-songwriter focused music, so it’s refreshing to open my world up to R&B.
There’s so much going on in the R&B world right now – it’s lyrically very interesting and culturally relevant, so I just had to listen, and it turns out that I’m loving it. Even the commercial artists like Beyoncé are commenting on poignant issues such as the Black Lives Matter movement.
WHAT do you love about Berlin?
I love how diverse Berlin is. You can eat food from all over the world – no matter what mood you’re in, you can find a street, bar or neighborhood that fits it. You can always discover something new here because it’s so vast and big.
WHY Music Business?
Having some experience in the music industry already, I really wanted to expand on that and get a world recognised qualification in the area. I love Berlin and so when I heard of BIMM Berlin it was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to get a hands-on course that offered a lot of job opportunities; I love that most of my tutors have jobs that I look up to with companies, labels and festivals that I know and admire. So I’m actually learning from real life people and that could translate into job opportunities and connections for my future.
