Here is Music Journalism student, Amelia talking about her experience so far.
Why she loves Brighton and her reasoning for choosing Music Journalism…
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I made a playlist on Spotify of all of my favourite songs so I’m listening to some old classics like The Doors, The Eagles, and Dexys Midnight Runners. But then I’m also really into bands like as London Grammar, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and Tame Impala. My favourite song at the moment though is “You” by Keaton Henson it’s a beautifully sad song but it’s so calming.
What do you love about Brighton?
I love the fact it is always really busy but yet it always seems so calm, to me it’s just a better and more chilled out version of London. The beach is the best place to go to clear your head or if you want to go for a run, it’s just so pretty and relaxing.
Why Music Journalism?
My mum always encouraged me to do something I loved so she pushed me to do music but I get really anxious when it comes to performing, so I decided that with Music Journalism I could be around what I love every single day and do something interesting with it. I also think it’s a really great way to educate people about things going on in the world, some people don’t listen to music to find it’s meaning when sometimes that meaning is really deep and relevant to many peoples lives, and I want to help spread those messages.
