Who are you listening to at the moment?

Right now I’ve been listening to Royal Blood’s new album How Did We Get So Dark? which just came out, to try to become familiar with all their new music. Besides that, I’ve been listening to pretty much everything ranging from Monuments, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Snarky Puppy and Jeff Buckley – and everything in between. I always like to check out new music as soon as it comes out or as soon as I hear about it because I’m a strong believer that one of the best ways to improve as a musician is to listen to and learn from as much different music as you can.

What do you love about Brighton?

I think that the music scene in Brighton is incredible and I try to go to as many gigs as I can, to see both local bands and touring bands that play here. On one of my first nights living in Brighton, I went to the Casablanca Jazz Club with some of my friends from back home and we were all blown away by how good the bands here are. Outside of music, I really like how colourful and vibrant the city is – from the graffiti art on the walls to all of the great places that you can find in the Lanes – and there’s so much great food in Brighton. Having lived here for almost two years, I really feel at home in Brighton since my bands and most of my friends are here.

Why Guitar?

Playing the guitar has been my main passion since I started playing ten years ago and when I heard that BIMM Brighton offered a degree course based around guitar playing I knew that I had to do it. Studying at BIMM has led me to meet so many great musicians and great people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise, and being in such a creative environment has given me so much inspiration to play and write music. I’m definitely a better musician now than I was before I started the course.
