We caught up with Karolina Beijer Brondén from BIMM Berlin to find out her Who What Why’s.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
A very big songwriting and musical inspiration for me has always been Mark Knopfler. His solo albums are incredible; so skillful, both lyrically and melodically. Right now I’m also listening to the Alicia Keys album ‘Here’, which I find very fascinating.
What do you love about Berlin?
I love how you never have to plan anything in this city – there’s always something going on and time is not an obstacle. If you suddenly feel like watching live music, there’s always several places that have Open Mic or Live Jam sessions. If you feel like clubbing at 7 o’clock in the morning, none of the places are closed yet. And if you want to just sit at a café the whole day, all you have to do is step outside your door and the streets are full of endless unique and cozy coffee shops. And the best of it all, if you’re vegan/vegetarian like me, it’s the world’s number one vegan capital!
Why Songwriting?
My main reason was to improve my skills, get connections and to take my songwriting to the next level. I felt I had a good experience working with musicians, as well as writing music and performing, but I wanted to learn more about the business, how it works and what different kind of jobs you can get in music.
