Describe your new track in three words…

Tragic love song

What inspired you when writing this track?

We wanted to capture the infectious synth-pop sounds that we grew up on, juxtaposing these classic pop sensibilities with dark lyrics of heartbreak and loss.

Are there any artists that inspire you when writing?

When writing we draw inspiration from the music that we grew up on, the classic rock/pop sounds of the 80s play a large part in our sound. We combine this with our love of modern alternative and emo bands (Wolf Alice, Pale Waves et al) to create our brand of wonky, distorted pop.

What would you say makes your music unique?

We aim to create something bigger than music; crossing genres and mediums, we aim to create the soundtrack to our youth, something visual and tangible that you can lose yourself in.

Do you have a process you follow when writing a song?

I (George-David) first wrote this song last summer, it was the first in a new batch of tracks that became the blueprint for our sound. I brought it to Tom (our guitarist) and he added these guitar parts that gave it a much darker tone. When we found Charlotte (lead vocals) and Eliza (drums) and got into the studio together it just came to life, Charlotte’s voice captures the heartbreak of our stories so perfectly, it created this beautifully tragic soundscape that we fell in love with.

How has studying at BIMM helped you develop as an artist?

Studying at BIMM allowed us all to meet, we formed in September when each of us moved to Manchester to study here.

What’s next for you?

We are currently working on our first EP and building our way through the local music circuit. Our next show will be on March 21st at Below The Bridge Festival, Manchester.
