Happy Monday, everyone! We’re welcoming in the new week with a fantastic collaboration between BIMM Institute Hamburg’s Jonas Eb and Lleen. You can listen to their new track ‘Your Ghost’ below.
We caught up with Lleen about how she approached this latest collaboration.
What was your inspiration when you began writing the track?
My inspiration came from the instrumental that Jonas had written. He sent it over, and I wrote the topline.
Are there any artists that inspire you when writing?
My biggest inspiration is Pat Pattison (mentor to John Mayer), I had the honour of attending a songwriting class with him a few years back.
What is key to your sound, and how do you make your music stand out?
The key to my sound is that I write and record my own vocals.
How does your songwriting process work?
My process always starts with the instrumental track provided by a producer. I listen to it a couple of times to get a sense of the song, I then let the words that come to mind just flow out of me. I come back and put them into shape, imagining who is telling the story and why. For me, the essential part of songwriting is the storytelling aspect.
Describe your sound in 3 words…
Warm, fragile, electronic.
How has studying at BIMM helped you develop as an artist?
Studying at BIMM has not only helped me develop as an artist, but it has also given me the tools that I need to navigate the music business and help me grow as a songwriter, able to experiment in all sorts of genres and styles.
What’s next for you?
My next song with my ‘Lleen’ Project comes out March 11th on Future House Cloud.
