In the Spotlight is our regular feature where we meet current students from our BA Performing Arts Course. This week we meet Finlay Whittle, a third-year Acting for the 21st Century pathway student from our Brighton campus.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PURSUE ACTING?
Acting has always been my true passion, and as I grew older, that passion only strengthened. Being inspired by captivating TV and film performances, I knew that seeking professional training would be the key to improving my skills and paving a path into the acting industry, so I applied!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE BRIGHTON FOR YOUR TRAINING?
I chose here for my training institution because their Acting for the 21st Century pathway offers a diverse range of training pathways into the industry. From acting for motion capture, to stage combat and voice-over, this course provides comprehensive training in various aspects of the acting profession that I know I’ll find so useful.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE DURING YOUR TIME HERE SO FAR?
The highlight of my journey so far has been the opportunity to participate and perform in a rehearsed reading of ICED, directed by the esteemed Ray Shell. Collaborating with such an accomplished director allowed me to learn and grow as an actor, pushing my abilities to new heights.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR CAREER TAKING YOU IN THE FUTURE?
Looking ahead, I aspire to establish myself in the film industry, with a steady career in both television and film. I feel the strong pull of the screen!
WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?
Currently, I have just wrapped up acting in a pilot episode for ‘Detergent,’ produced by Watered Roots. Additionally, I am about to commence rehearsals for my final third-year play, Either, directed by Rachael Halliwell.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER TO SOMEONE APPLYING TO BA PERFORMING ARTS?
If you’re considering applying to BA Performing Arts, be prepared to give it 100% for the whole three years, give it your all every day, absorb as much knowledge as possible, and most importantly, enjoy the journey!
