It’s the last Monday in March, and we’ve got another brand new Track of the Week.
We’ve been loving the music from BIMM Music Production student Jonas Eb, he even featured as Track of the Week with Songwriting student Lleen earlier this year.

His latest release, ‘Come Alive’, will be sure to wake you up and get you ready for the new week.

What was your inspiration when you began writing the track?

My inspiration for this track was a melody that I had recorded with my phone some days before producing this song. I wanted to make a heavy bassline playing this melody and adding my lead sounds in the second part of the drop to give it more punch. Inspiration also came from the vocal, which I surrounded with lovely chords and other melodic sounds.

Are there any artists that inspire you when writing?

Before I started to produce music in 2016 (and still today), I listened to a lot of music by Oliver Heldens, Mesto or Mike Williams, these artists inspire my music and the development of my sound!

What is key to your sound, and how do you make your music stand out?

I try to make my music stand out by adding little breaks and sounds in the second drop and adding tension to the songs. If you compare two or three of my songs, you will notice little structural similarities, which I think are essential so the listener will recognise the artist without looking at the name.

How does your songwriting process work?

Usually, I get inspired by a melody that pops into my head which I then record on my phone or put into my DAW right away. I also like to let myself go when making music, trying not to think about the next steps but just let it flow and see what happens.

Describe your sound in 3 words…

Plucky, Energetic, Modern.

How has studying at BIMM helped you develop as an artist? What’s next for you?

Studying at BIMM helped me concentrate more on finalising my music but not forgetting the whole picture. It also pushed me to use sounds you would not expect in dance music, such as a chilled guitar supporting the parts after the drop. My next goal is to work more with other producers, songwriters or vocalists on projects and, by that, grow as an artist!
