WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO AT THE MOMENT?
I’m listening to a lot of country artists including Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves. Women in the country music genre are really getting the recognition they deserve which is super inspiring. Also Miranda Lambert’s music inspires my writing a huge amount. I’m also really enjoying John Mayer’s ‘The Search for Everything’ album, and Dodie Clark’s ‘You’ EP.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT BRISTOL?
Bristol’s community is so accepting of all people and there seems to be a sense of freedom to be or do whatever you want! I’ve lived near Bristol my whole life and have always loved it but living here has made me fall in love with the city even more. The artwork all over the streets is so inspiring and I love that there is music and creativity around every corner.
WHY SONGWRITING?
I’ve been writing songs for a few years now but it’s only since being at BIMM that I’ve seen a rapid improvement in my technique and knowledge of songwriting. I needed to expand what I knew and this course had everything I needed for that. I also just wanted to meet, and work with, other songwriters and musicians and gain a bit of experience in the industry.
