Who are you listening to at the moment?

Right now I’m listening to ‘The Vaccines’ quite a bit; I find they have a very distinct sound and the energy in many of their songs is something you don’t come across too often these days. I usually have a few bands that I always go back to such as Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys, and Queens of The Stone Age. Meeting Josh Homme at the Queens of The Stone Age masterclass last November was definitely one of the highlights of my time at BIMM so far. I’ve also been listening to Dua Lipa’s new album recently. I feel it’s important to keep up with what’s popular at the moment.

What do you love about Dublin?

Being originally from Wexford, moving to Dublin to study was quite a change for me, however it’s been nothing but a joy ever since. I’ve found that there is a place for everyone in Dublin, no matter what your interests or music taste may be. There are so many different venues around the city, meaning there’s an opportunity for every new and upcoming artist to play live.

Why Music Production?

I’ve had an interest in the technical side of music ever since I was a kid. I believe the producer has as much responsibility as the artist when working together on a project. A lot more goes into the production side of things than the listener ever realises. There’s so much more to it than just sticking a mic in front of a vocalist. What I find really interesting though is that a creative approach can be taken to the production side of a project which can be really successful when done right. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala is a brilliant example of this – their sound is so unique.
