Welcome to a new week. We’re back with a brand new Track of the Week.
PRiiCE is made up of two brothers: Sean Price, currently studying at BIMM Institute Dublin, and Conor Price, who is heading to BIMM Institute London in September. ‘Sunflower’ is their debut single, and we caught up with them to find out more about the track.
What was your inspiration when you began writing the track?
The track’s production was inspired a lot by Disclosure’s most recent album ENERGY. The track was being written and produced in the room at the same time by just the two of us, and it seemed to all fall into place really quickly.
Are there any artists that inspire you when writing?
Some artists that inspire us when writing are Easy Life, Rejjie Snow, and Dominic Fike.
“The blend of both our vocals is unique and makes our music stand out.”
What is key to your sound and how do you make your music stand out?
The key to our sound is doing our best to make music that we want to listen to. Our starting point is to make sure that we love the music and I think that comes across in our sound. I also think the blend of both our vocals is unique and makes our music stand out.
How does your songwriting process work?
Our songwriting process varies. Often, one of us will bring part of a song to the other and we will work from there to finish it. A lot of the songs that we will release over the coming months came together really quickly after hanging out and just trying to write a song for the craic. They’re the most fun ones to write and that is clear in the final outcome.
Describe your sound in 3 words…
Energetic, liberating, euphoric.
Why have you chosen to study at BIMM?
Conor: I chose to study at BIMM to be able to focus on music as a career path and to legitimise music as a life choice while also allowing myself time to not have to rush into anything.
How has studying at BIMM helped you develop as an artist?
Sean: BIMM has allowed me time to develop and write with no pressure. As an artist, it has helped me figure out what I want to do and what I don’t want to do.
What’s next for you?
We are releasing a project in September with another single coming in August. We aim to keep writing music and building an audience that our music resonates with.
