Track of the Week

Olivia Rose – Wait

27th July 2020

We’re back with a brand new Track of the Week, this time from BIMM Bristol singer/songwriter Olivia Rose.

With her punchy lyrics and edgy vibe, we are loving her latest release ‘Wait’.

Take a listen, and discover more about the track below…

What was your inspiration when you began writing the track?

The beat actually inspired me to write the song, the producer BLUTOP creates such beautiful melodies and it took me to a place of sunshine, that’s why I used the scenery of palm trees.

Are there any artists that inspire you when writing?

An artist that often inspires me is Sade, I love her music and honesty.

What is key to your sound and how do you make your music stand out?

The mix of my soulful melodies over a Rap inspired beat.

How does your songwriting process work?

I usually write lyrics when I am feeling a certain emotion strongly, such as loss or hope. Then I get together with my producer BLUTOP and we write and record the rest of the song.

How has studying at BIMM helped you develop as an artist?

My first year at BIMM has completely thrown me in the deep end and pushed me to learn new things. I never got into music theory but I have found it useful in how I now write a song.

What’s next for you?

To perform at Love Saves The Day as I didn’t get to this year.
