We’re welcoming the first Monday in December with the latest release from BIMM Manchester’s Indie Rockers Green Wire.

‘T-Shirt & Jeans’ was released on Friday; take a listen below and discover more about the track.

Describe your new track in three words…

Bouncy, Heartfelt, Feel-Good

What inspired you when writing this track?

The track was inspired by the feeling of a new relationship Simon had entered, reminiscing on the times at the start and the initial memories made in that “honeymoon period”.

Are there any artists that inspire you when writing?

Influences behind this track include The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Sam Fender and Talking Heads.

What would you say makes your music unique?

The combination of influences within the band gives us our unique sound. Simon is mainly influenced by indie rock and indie pop, Charlie and Ethan by pop-rock, emo and pop-punk and Jack by math rock, so the sound is blended very well.

Do you have a process you follow when writing a song?

The process varies, but the main process is Simon will write acoustically then bring the song to the band to expand upon. Lyrics and riffs are often done in different orders. Sometimes lyrics will be done using the Bowie method of cutting and choosing between various snippets, or sometimes the lyrics will just flow. There’s no ‘process’ really, as that seems a bit too scripted for us.

How has studying at BIMM helped you develop as an artist?

Studying at BIMM Institute has helped me meet new people and have the experiences to write things about. It’s also helped me pick up on techniques from other songwriters I’ve met.

What’s next for you?

Next for us is our headline show to celebrate the single launch on 4th December at Lion’s Den. We have a single coming out every six weeks in the build-up to our EP launch on the 8th April. Along with plenty more shows in 2022 and some small festivals next summer.
