Sam Seaton is a BA1 Music Journalism student, studying at BIMM Brighton

Here he is speaking about his experience so far…

Who are you listening to at the moment?

At the moment I’m listening to the new Code Orange album, I love how it takes all the things from metalcore I was into when I was younger, and makes it feel fresh and exciting. Otherwise I’m still listening to the Bowie ‘No Plan’ EP, it’s just more of the good stuff that we heard on Blackstar. But also I have The Book Of Mormon soundtrack on all the time, it’s so ridiculous but in a wonderful way.

What do you love about Brighton?

Brighton is great because there is just so many people in a pretty tight-knit community. All the musicians get to know each other, all the artists get to share their work together and all the students get to be stressed out as a unit. Having the sea right there is always great, I don’t get how locals aren’t constantly blown away by that view.

Why Music Journalism

I chose this course because I love music. I’ve always loved music, listening to it, talking about it, very poorly making it too. It’s given me a way to learn how to turn that into a skill, while meeting people who feel the same way and getting amazing opportunities to learn from people who understand how we work.
