Who are you listening to at the moment?

I’m a big fan of lo-fi/emo. Some of my favourite artists at the moment are Slint, Car Seat Headrest, Alex G, Deafheaven, Keaton Henson, Mac DeMarco, and Crywank. Crywank and their support stayed at my house last year for their Dublin show which was surreal; meeting James was a great experience as I’m a huge fan of his brutally honest lyrical style which I try to implement. My favourite local bands are Regret Will Come, Girlfriend, Hales Lake, and Pillow Queens. My favourite band of all time is Modern Baseball however!

What do you love about Dublin?

Coming from a very rural background in Monaghan working with horses; Dublin is a living breathing entity of music and so wildly, vastly different than my hometown. I’d dreamed of living here since I was a little kid and it’s incredible that I’ve been able to fulfill that. It’s great to be a part of, and be known within, your local scene; there’s so many fantastic bands and promoters that make up this scene that also double as some of the best friends I’ve come across in my life.

Why Vocals?

I chose vocals as when I was performing in my old metal band as I loved being in that frontman role. I never felt that I was a good singer until I was around 16, performing with them around the country and I felt that I needed training and to understand just quite HOW singing works and how to improve upon it. I’ve grown so much as a vocalist and I’m more confident on stage then I’ve ever been. BIMM has honed my songwriting and guitar playing and I love that I’m not constricted by my stream at all; I’m playing many different roles in college and loving them all.
