Describe your Debut EP in three words…
Emotional, passionate and raw.
What inspired you when writing the EP?
For us, this EP reflects a lot of emotions felt within the development of both our romantic relationship and within ourselves. We started writing the EP in early 2021, and as we matured so did our songwriting, resulting in this journey of emotion; from carefree expression to more impactful storylines within a moodier atmosphere.
Are there any artists that inspire you when writing?
Due to us both having very eclectic tastes, we take inspiration from a range of artists, Lianne La Havas, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Etta James, Hozier.
What would you say makes your music unique?
Unconventional in both lyrical content, structure and sound, our music always follows the narrative of raw emotion being expressed. Every member of our band brings something unique to our sound allowing an unusual blend of several contrasting sounds and genre influences, allowing our sound to be both unique and distinct.
Do you have a process you follow when writing a song?
Each song is written differently. The process can start either sonically, rhythmically or lyrically, depending on the inspiration behind the song, and we then construct the song section by section. Our last stage of finishing the crafting of the song is to take it to our band, where each member adds their individual flair that completes our sound.
How has studying at BIMM helped you develop as an artist?
During our time at BIMM we’ve met some incredible people who have helped us bring our music to life. The connections made have aided in both our recording and performing processes, from gigging with our band, recording in the studio, to learning more about the business behind the industry in promoting and marketing ourselves as artists.
What’s next for you?
While you can find us performing in and around Brighton, we’re currently recording our next project, where our sound becomes only more distinct, which we intend to release very soon. An Ever Elysian Tour may also be on the horizon for fans around the UK.
