WHAT DIFFERENCE HAS BIMM MADE TO YOUR CAREER?
Looking back, BIMM was the start of my career. I feel like everything I did before BIMM was just setting me up for what was to come. It was like I was trying to get somewhere with no directions. BIMM taught me that there are so many other aspects to being a solo, self-managed artist that I hadn’t even considered before. At the very least, you have to know how to market and promote yourself, you have to have a clear image, and you have to have good music. The BIMM Songwriting course has taught me all of that and a whole lot more.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO WRITE/PLAY MUSIC?
Other music. Music that really makes me feel something. It inspires me to write something just as great. I want my music to make someone feel something someday. I think that is what most songwriters set out to achieve.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR NEW AND FUTURE STUDENTS?
I say this to every single person I meet who is thinking about studying at BIMM: you get out what you put in. Know what you want to achieve and know how you’re going to achieve it, and put yourself out there. BIMM is the one time you’ll get to figure out what kind of artist you want to be without any other distractions so take the time to explore your capabilities as an artist and figure out the kind of music you want to be putting out there.
