My name is James Geraghty, I recently completed my fourth year at BIMM Dublin, and I’m the guitarist for Brass Phantoms.
How did you get started?
My uncle had an acoustic guitar he used to keep in his room, he taught me a couple of chords and let me borrow it for a while. He ended up buying me a guitar for my 10th birthday and I’ve been pretty much hooked ever since.
Why did you choose BIMM Dublin?
It really just seemed like the logical choice. I knew I wanted to do something with music and that just seemed like the place I needed to be to learn as much as possible, both about my instrument and the industry.
What has been/was your highlight at BIMM?
Meeting people! Whether it’s been the staff or the students, everyone has been – and continues to be – so helpful.
What advice would you give to future BIMM Students?
You’re going to be put in a building with a couple of hundred like-minded people with the same aspirations and goals as you. I’d say do your best to learn from each other, never say no to an opportunity, and enjoy it.
