Can you introduce yourself?
Hi, I’m Rivita, an electro/pop artist who creates music with a twist of Eastern vibe. I am a DIY artist, which means I write, perform, produce, mix, and do most of the work on my music single-handed.

How did you get started?
I was into music since childhood but I guess I got quite serious about it when I picked up the guitar as a teenager and started writing songs. Moving to London was a milestone though and ever since then I have worked hard on my music each and every day.

Why did you choose BIMM London?
I chose BIMM London because of their exciting course material. When I joined BIMM they still taught the Cert HE in popular music performance which was a holistic program. The course was only one year long and gave me the option of jumping straight into the second year of the degree if I did well on it (which I did, of course!). Plus who would say no to learning from a world class faculty in a city like London?

What has been your highlight at BIMM?

Ah there have been many many memorable moments I’ve had at BIMM. From performing “Sex Machine” on the diploma to singing songs in 5 different languages on the final year to singing metal songs! I guess when I was at BIMM every day was the experience of a life time!

What have you done since Graduation?
After graduation I went on to study for a Master’s degree in Composing for Film and TV at Kingston University and successfully graduated the course with a research project titled “Ethnomusicology in Film Scoring”. I also released many tracks and music videos as an independent artist, played many gigs, went to Spain on a Songwriting retreat with The Songwriting Academy, taught hundreds of students, produced music for other artists, won and got nominated for awards, and so much more! Currently I am working on my upcoming EP and a series of new music videos! ????????

What advice would you give to future students on your course?
The advice I would give to each of you is to be versatile; learn as many skills as you can and strive towards finding your own unique voice. Just be you and nobody else!
