Can you believe we’re four months into the year already? And Hamburg is showing no signs of letting up when it comes to its offering of fantastic and eclectic international music. This month sees BIMM alumni, a world-famous music composer and four Austrians from Vienna take to the best live music venues of Hamburg. So get ready to fill your diary and grab those tickets.

The Kooks – Sporthalle Hamburg: Monday 1st April

The graduates of BIMM Brighton are on tour with their new album ‘Let’s Go Sunshine’. You’ll most probably associate their distinct Brit Indie-rock sound with the early 2000s  – and now’s your chance to hear their latest material live. Luke Pritchard and the band will be performing their early hits (throwback to ‘’Naive’ anyone?) as well as their newer stuff that’s sure to rival the classics. Grab your tickets and prepare to experience high-energy and engaging indie music in all its glory.

GURR – Hafenklang: Wednesday 3rd April

This Berlin-based garage-punk duo have built up an impressive fanbase over the past few years. And it’s all thanks to their slacker pop style that’s reminiscent of Sleater Kinney or Le Tigre. They’re currently touring their forthcoming EP ‘She Says’. Expect huge amounts of energy and a genre-bending sound that’s as out-there and as bold as they are. Don’t miss out on tickets.

Hot Chip – Mojo Club: Friday 12th April

London indie band Hot Chip are back. Considered one of the world’s most pioneering and progressive electro-pop bands, they’re performing at the Mojo Club ahead of the release of their eighth studio album. Trust us, you won’t want to miss this – it’s guaranteed to be a “fistful of fun” (and that’s a direct quote by the band themselves). Add the tickets to your basket now.

Bilderbuch – Docks: Wednesday 17th April

Hailed as saviours of progressive German-language pop, these four Austrians from Vienna are once again causing a stir with their recently released prog-pop album ‘Vernissage My Heart’. Even if you have plans on the 17th, we recommend you cancel them and see one of the most exciting bands around at the moment. Buy your tickets today.

Hans Zimmer – Laeiszhalle: Sunday 21st April

We’re guessing that the most successful German film composer in history needs little introduction. But in case you need a refresher, Zimmer is responsible for making the combination of synthesizer and philharmonic orchestra popular in film music and is a pioneer in every respect when it comes to incorporating new avant-garde sound influences into the big screen. His works include The Lion King, Gladiator, Inception, Dunkirk and more. So, get this performance in your diary asap – and witness the man who’s sold 19 million soundtracks worldwide live and with his orchestra. Grab tickets now.

Lambchop – Elbphilharmonie: Monday 29th April

Hailing from Nashville, Lambchop are regarded as one of the most influential alternative country bands in the world. Frontman Kurt Wagner and his band can be characterised by their elliptical country-soul mutations. You can expect to hear a combination of urban electronica, soul, country and folk – and Wagner’s distinctive songwriting. Buy your tickets and head to the Elbphilharmonie on the 29th to see the band live on tour for their 13th studio album, ‘This (Is What I Wanted to Tell You)’.
