What’s On in Dublin – December

The festive season is upon us and with that comes lots of exciting shows across the city. So wrap up warm and get out and experience some of these gigs and events this month, it will be so worth it…


Jessie J

Jessie J makes her return to Dublin on the 1st of December with a show at the National Stadium on the European leg of The R.O.S.E. Tour. Support on the night comes from BIMM Dublin graduate Erica Cody. Tickets are still available and you can get your hands on them here.

The Fratellis

Indie rock trio, The Fratellis come to Dublin’s Academy for one night only on the 3rd of December on tour in support of their latest album ‘In Your Own Sweet Time’, released in March of this year. Tickets are still available for what is sure to be a stand out show of the coming month.


Sister duo, Carron play the Grand Social on the 5th of December on the back of their latest release, the poignant single ‘Even Sad Birds Sing’. Gig goers are promised some new material and special guest performances on the night. Tickets are just €10 and are available from Eventbrite.


Rising Dublin rapper Kojaque makes a stop at The Academy during his UK and Ireland tour on the 6th of December. With his production and lyric writing talents steadily gaining recognition across the Irish and international music scenes, this is a show not to be missed. Tickets still available here, get them while you can! 

Hilary Woods

After her debut LP ‘Colt’ was released to rave reviews earlier this year, Hilary Woods brings her enchanting live show to the Dublin Unitarian Church on the 7th of December. Tickets can be found here and some special guests are set to join Woods on the night.


90s indie rockers, Travis bring their live show to The Olympia Theatre on the 9th and 10th of this month. Touring in celebration of their classic album ‘The Man Who’, the first night is completely sold out but some tickets are still available for their show on the 10th – get them before they’re gone to experience these classic songs live!

Vernon Jane

BIMM Dublin graduates Vernon Jane play a special show this month for the launch of their new single, ‘Push Me’. Having earned themselves a reputation for their formidable live shows, this gig is set to be even bigger and louder, taking place in The Button Factory on the 12th of December. 2FM Xmas Ball 2018

RTE 2FM and MCD bring the 2FM Xmas Ball to the 3 Arena in aid of the ISPCC on the 14th of December. Acts featuring on the night include Hozier, Walking On Cars, KeyWest, Chasing Abbey, Wyvern Lingo, Wild Youth and Brave Giant. Tickets are available here.

Hudson Taylor 6 Night Stand

After a successful 2018, Hudson Taylor bring their live show to Whelan’s for a special run of six shows from the 17th to the 22nd of December. Tickets for their 6 Night Stand have sold out but you can catch them play alongside Gavin James, Wild Youth and more at Dublin’s NYF 3Countdown Concert.

King Bones

Synth-Punk six piece King Bones bring their energetic show to Whelan’s on the 23rd of December. After the launch of their latest EP entitled ‘My Best Friend’, the band had a busy summer playing numerous festivals across the country. Tickets for their headline show are available from Eventbrite – get yours before it’s too late!


Aslan play three dates at the end of the month at Vicar St. The first two shows on the 27th and 29th have sold out but some tickets are still available for the third and final night on the 30th of December. Get ready for the New Year’s Eve celebrations and get your tickets here.


After completing their first UK headline tour this year, Hard Rock duo, Vulpynes play an end of year headline show at The Underground in Dublin on the 28th of December. Known for creating a relentless wall of sound at their shows, this is sure to be an awesome night! Get your tickets here to witness it live!

New Year’s Festival

Ring in 2019 at this year’s NYF 3Countdown Concert. Gavin James headlines with special guests Hudson Taylor, Wild Youth and Inhaler. Centered around the iconic Custom House, tickets for NYF are just €29.90 and include entry to the magical Liffey Lights Midnight Moment which kicks off at 11.30pm and will drum up excitement and anticipation to ring in the new year.

Sinéad graduated as a Vocalist from the BA (Hons) in Commercial Modern Music at BIMM Dublin in 2015. Since then, she has been working in the music industry in administration, social media and marketing. She has written for various music blogs, websites and magazines and currently runs her own blog, MNÁSOME which focuses on women making waves in the music industry.
