What Can I do with a Joint Honours Degree?

At BIMM Institute, we’re constantly rethinking and transforming music education. It’s the reason we introduced our exclusive range of Joint Honours undergraduate degrees; we realise that being able to specialise in more than one area is so important.

And our joint honour degrees give you the chance to do just this by studying two different but complementary degrees. Now, you can combine a performance degree with a commercial discipline – such as Music Business or Music Marketing, Media & Communication – and take the industry by storm.

Career Paths with Joint Honours Degrees

As well as giving you the chance to work across an array of mediums, each of our joint honour degree courses has a defined career path. Let’s look at our BA (Hons) Popular Music Performance and Music Business course as an example.

The Performance element emphasises being the skilled performer. There are technical elements – such as scales, modes and theory – to push you and make you an expert guitar/bass/drums/keys player, or vocalist. However, there’s also the Music Business side. This gives you what you need to operate as a freelancer or have all you need to set up your own business.

After this course, you can:

  • Self-manage your own band or project
  • Release your own material
  • Develop your live presence

In short, you’ll have your creative talent AND the business acumen to maximise your earning potential.
