Summer is here so it’s time to dig out your flip flops and head down to one of Berlin’s many magical beer gardens. The BIMM Berlin team has picked our favourites so all you need to do is go!
A number of BIMM Berlin students have had the pleasure of performing at this rooftop venue, where you’re hands down guaranteed a crowd (particularly in the sunny summer months). With stunning panoramas and an eclectic mix of musicians performing on a daily basis, Klunkerkranich is the heart and soul of Neukölln.
Berlin’s oldest beer garden, Prater, is nestled away under the chestnut trees in Kastanienallee, and it’s easy to see why it’s lasted so long. There are always weird and wonderful events taking place here, so be sure to pay a visit when you can.
Café am Neuen See
Close to the world-famous Tiergarten, Café am Neuen See is almost always brimming with a mass of people from all walks of life. Plus they have great pizza, which you can wash down with a huge selection of local brews.
Kreuzberg’s colourful Golgatha has many faces. Spend lazy afternoons snoozing on the terrace, soak up a few beers or cocktails in the evening, and dance into the early hours courtesy of a number of guest DJs. Don’t expect a hectic night out here – it’s a far more slow-paced, relaxed atmosphere than your average bar.
Tucked directly into the banks of the Spree, Zollpackhof is a favourite of skaters and families alike. The views here are exceptional – from the shade of the huge trees you can see the Bundeskanzleramt in all its glory.
This tumbledown hideaway is Berghain’s neighbour, with a striking upper deck from where you can gaze out over lovely Berlin. Escape from the hustle and bustle of the adjacent techno temple by basking in the sun at this surprisingly rarely busy gem.
