Tell me a little about yourself and your career
I’m a Canadian-born drummer who loves watching and playing hockey almost as much as I love playing drums. I’ve been recording and touring the globe since I finished high school. I’ve played and recorded on at least 20 successful internationally released CDs and have had the honour of sharing the stage with many of the legends I grew up listening to.
If your friends were visiting Berlin for one weekend only, where would you tell them to go?
On a river cruise/boat trip – it’s a great way to see the city and a great perspective from which to see many of its landmarks.
Where’s your favourite place to eat in Berlin?
At the moment it’s an Indian restaurant called Shaan because the food is excellent, and it’s a five-minute walk from where I live in the oldest part of Berlin called Rixdorf.
Where’s your favourite place to listen to music in Berlin?
I have two places. The first is at my practice studio, where I usually listen to my favourite music while warming up on a practice pad before I sit down on the kit. The other place is at my gym while working out. It inspires me and gives me energy, plus it passes the time more quickly.
What makes Berlin so different to where you’re originally from?
The history, for one. Canada recently turned 150… whereas the building I live in here is close to 140 years old. Some of the buildings in my area are hundreds of years old. It’s also a lot bigger and has quite a bit more to offer when it comes to music. On any given night there are so many live shows you can see, in all types of genres.
