The O2 Institute is a 2,400 capacity venue which is located on Digbeth High Street, just outside Birmingham city centre.

Just a stone’s throw from our latest home on Floodgate Street, the O2 Institute welcomes the best international touring acts and new bands about to break through thanks to its three rooms of modest capacity (1,500; 600; 300).

Originally converted from a Methodist chapel in the early 1900s- and previously known as the Sanctuary, Institute and hmv Institute- the venue was recently acquired by AMG (Academy Music Group) and joins forces with the O2 Academy in a pledge to bring some of the biggest rising stars to the UK’s second city.

While the venue was operating as The Sanctuary, the current O2 Institute2 room was also known as the Barfly for several years and played host to some special, intimate shows by the likes of Coheed & Cambria and Taking Back Sunday.

Previous acts to have played at the O2 Institute (in its various names) include The Cure, Arctic Monkeys and Pearl Jam; while in more recent times, the likes of Emeli Sande, Circa Waves, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Lana Del Rey have graced the stage.

We can’t wait to see what the O2 Institute has in store for us; we’ll be keeping a close eye on their venue listings!
