My Birmingham: Tilly Wellard

30th October 2018

How would you summarise Birmingham?

Birmingham is definitely underrated, it’s has so much culture and creativity but it’s also overlooked in terms of music. It’s amazing to see more and more artists representing Birmingham!

Do you remember the first gig you saw in the city?

Mika, during 2007.

And the last?

I recently went to see Jorja Smith at the O2 Academy. She was amazing!

If you had someone visiting for 24 hours, where would you take them?

Ghetto Golf would be first on the list.

What would you say is Birmingham’s hidden gem?

The Custard Factory is Birmingham’s creative quarter and there is always something to do there, various events are always taking place and it has loads of cool shops to check out too!

The best for…

A quick pint? Spoons.
A night out? The Alchemist.
To see new music? The Sunflower Lounge.
Grab a coffee? Yumm.
Brunch? Spoons.
Dinner? The Botanist.
Takeaway? Big John’s.
Venue? O2 Academy will always be my fave.
Taking a time out? The Custard Factory.
Clothes shopping? Bullring or COW.
Vinyl shop? The Diskery.
See art? Digbeth is a must if you’re into street art.
