What is HUX?

HUX is a student led support network, promotion company and blog for women and LGBTQ musicians, whose aim is to help, encourage, promote and present talented musicians in and around Manchester.

The company will soon be putting on its first gig at Gullivers Lounge in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on the 8th of November, to raise awareness and money for women musicians and the LGBTQ community. Entry is only £3 in advance and OTD, with £1 from each ticket sold being donated to the charities, Brighter Sound and LGBT Foundation.

Four amazing acoustic acts will play on the night; The Four Corners, Ellis and Evie, Jasmine Page and Libby O’brien, who collectively offer a mix of laid back indie and R&B tunes, that you simply won’t want to miss.

“I created the idea of HUX before I started university.” Said the company owner, Zara Huxley.

“I have struggled myself, as a bisexual woman who is a musician, and now aspiring journalist/promoter. Coming to Manchester, I have met many inspirational artists and bands who are trying to make it in the music industry. I don’t want HUX to just be a promotion company/blog, I want it to be a forever expanding safe space, which is filled with love and respect. It is a place where people can express their true selves, help each other and showcase their music. Come and join us on our journey. Help us tackle the blocked opportunities and outdated stereotypes of women and LGBTQ musicians.”
