Continuing a long line of valuable student experience opportunities at BIMM, 2nd year Songwriting Degree student Gabriela Palfinger Camacho landed herself the prestigious role of Assistant Stage Production Manager at this years’ Berlin Music Video Awards

The BIMM Berlin student was made partly responsible for timetabling the entire festival as well as helping to write scripts for the hosts of the show. Other elements of her role included contacting jury members to confirm their participation, fact-checking participants’ info’ and program scheduling to ensure the entire event ran smoothly.

We caught up with the young vocalist for a quick Q&A about her experience.

How did the opportunity to get involved with the BMVA’s come about?

“I got to know it through BIMM Berlin itself and sent in my application + CV, but the actual job role of being a stage production management assistant came across through Alexandrine Yetundey, another BIMM student, who I was then co-working with. I was recommended by her for this position.”

Were there any interesting stories/anecdotes from the event you’d like to share?

“Besides the incredible amount of videos being shown, there were tons of performance acts, a lot of naked skin, attendees jumping around in a plastic pool, burlesque dancers, raps about arm pit hair – essentially Berlin in all its diversity.”

What skills did you gain from the experience?

“I got an insight into how an event of that size can be produced and managed. And I discovered that, even though I’m capable of dealing with those of responsibilities, I’d ultimately rather work in more creative fields. In fact, I think I’m going to apply with a music video next time too. It’s a good way to show your work, get feedback, and make new connections.”

Gabriela is currently editing her own music video for her debut single, “Creatures”, which is to be released soon. Follow her progress with upcoming gigs and releases via her social media channels here.
