What do Slash, Jimmy Page and Angus Young have in common? They all play Gibson guitars… as do many of the greats. BIMM Berlin students received a special invitation to step into the world of Gibson for an exclusive viewing of their soon to be launched 2017 line.
The brand new, never-seen-before models were displayed next to vintage pieces, such as the iconic double neck played by Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page – an instrument which many guitar lovers have lusted over both on stage and in photographs. Our students were given the opportunity to hear the history of each guitar first-hand from the makers, and most importantly… to play them.
At one point during the event, a spontaneous jamming session took place, with the students forming a circle and letting the Gibsons guide their music – each falling in love with a guitar which seemed to be made especially for them.
First Year student Davide Ruffini said: “It was my birthday and one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. I wasn’t expecting to get to touch and try all of these rare and expensive instruments. If we could all have one of these guitars, the world would be a beautiful place.”
Special Projects Coordinator, Jorg von Gablenz, who organised the event, could feel the passion from the students. He said: “We appreciate the interest that these young musicians took in both our heritage and our newest products. Watching them playing and jamming throughout our showroom was great fun and we’re looking forward to the next meeting with BIMM Berlin! ”
We know what we’ll be asking Father Christmas for this year!
