BIMM Alumni Danielle Bruton talks about how BIMM helped her develop her technical abilities and shape her teaching career!

What difference has BIMM made to your musical career?
A huge difference! From theory to technical development, all the different areas and job roles within the industry, songwriting, performing, and the general focus and development of yourself is given so much attention – if you are ambitious and if you want to put the time in. I also now teach as a vocal tutor at BIMM Academy! Exciting times, I am very grateful and very happy I went to BIMM!

What inspires you to write/play music?
I have had lots of different idols, Hayley Williams from Paramore when I was 14, to great classic artists such as Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder, Areatha Franklin and nowadays so much new great music coming through with NAO, Gallant, Kendrick Lemar – All of these inspire my writing and playing! But also I would say just my general love for singing and for music and how happy music makes people feel! Also when i am in my bands all the fantastic musicians around me inspire me all the time!

Do you have any advice for new and future students?
Network network network – this is so important and valuable to your career! But also use the resources that are available to you (particularly make yourself known and liked by the tutors because they can help you!) whilst you are there and don’t waste it because the time goes so fast! DON’T stress about things though and DO enjoy the process of your development as a musician/artist!
