Meet James Attwood, who’s joining us at BIMM Birmingham in October…
I’m James Attwood, a 19 year old guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Birmingham.
How did you get into music/how long have you been playing?
I began playing guitar at the age of 9, and was initially disinterested. After hearing music by the likes of the Beatles and Hot Chocolate things soon changed. Soon after i picked up bass guitar, keys and most recently songwriting and production. Since I have gone on to gain a whole range of opportunities and experiences within the industry, working with Birmingham based artists on ep launches, recordings and events as well as playing guitar in Birmingham band, The Life.
What are you most looking forward to about joining BIMM Birmingham?
I’m currently in a gap year preparing to study at the new BIMM Birmingham campus in digbeth and am looking forward to studying at an institution that is nestled deep within the industry and will allow me to progress further along my career path as a guitarist. I look forward to meeting individuals from and gaining opportunities within the industry alongside my studies whilst at BIMM. Birmingham has a thriving music scene that contains a range of genres and people, I’m sure that BIMM Birmingham will reflect this within their visiting professionals and industry contacts
