What a year it’s been here at BIMM Berlin! Over the past 12 months, our students have performed at festivals, recorded an album, attended industry events, met world-renowned musicians, undertaken incredible music industry work experience and attended out-of-this-world Masterclass sessions… plus much more! Here’s just a small summary of some of the many things our students have been involved in over the past academic year, with photos to show just what amazing experiences they were!

Sixteen vocalists, instrumentalists, songwriters and producers from BIMM Berlin were selected to take part in an intensive songwriting camp with singer songwriter Fink.

We had a week dedicated to The Kills. To start with, we had The Kills’ manager, Gary Walker, in to deliver a Masterclass, then The Kills performed in Berlin and one of our First Year students, Lisa-Miriam Uebel, went along to cover the whole thing… and even got to go backstage and meet Alison Mosshart! BIMM Berlin students received a special invitation to step into the world of Gibson for an exclusive viewing of their yet-to-be-launched 2017 line of guitars. See pictures and read the full story here.

Throughout the year, singer-songwriters from BIMM Berlin took to the stage to perform at our highly anticipated Lamplight Sessions events. Read all about it in LOLA magazine’s feature here.

At BIMM Berlin, we pride ourselves on using our industry connections to bring some of the most amazing people in the music industry directly to our students as part of our regular Masterclass sessions. See a recap of some of these here.

Live electronic performance artists Johannes Steyer and Matthias Millhoff (AKA #INSTANTBONER) gave us a Masterclass to remember.

We’ve seen four incredible end-of-term shows this year. They’re always a brilliant opportunity for our hugely talented students to show an audience of friends, family and industry personnel just how hard they’ve been working all year. See photos here.

One of the most hotly anticipated events of the BIMM Berlin calendar is the release of the annual BIMM Berlin Album. All students are invited to submit demos via Soundcloud link, with the final shortlist judged by a professional A&R panel. The selected students are then given the opportunity to record and produce their music alongside the industry’s finest producers. See photos from the making of The BIMM Berlin Album here.

BIMM Brighton alumni, The Kooks, visited Berlin to play a sold-out gig at Columbiahalle – one of Berlin’s favourite venues. Our BIMM Berlin students were given the opportunity to join the band for a pre-show meet and greet, followed by exclusive access to their soundcheck. Frontman Luke Pritchard invited students Daniel Rivera de Ycaza and Lisa Uebel up on stage with him to play drums as they practised.

We flew a number of our students across Europe to play at gigs and festivals. Here are our students from MIN t about to wing their way over to London to perform at the launch of the 2017 BIMM Albums.

This year saw BIMM Berlin team up with the organisers of the Berlin Music Video Awards (BMVAs) to sponsor the star-studded ceremony, which took place at the city’s ultra-cool Nuke Club. As part of our partnership, eight lucky BIMM Berlin students were invited to work backstage at the event in a range of varied and exciting roles – a once in a lifetime opportunity that was too good to pass up. Find out more about the experience here.
