What was your inspiration behind the track?

I wrote the song quite recently just as we’d got together as a band. Before this I’d make really electronic tracks in my room because it was really easy to do. But when you start in a band you write differently I think, you think more about how it will sound live and stuff like that. I wanted this kind of dreamy electronic feel to blend in with the guitars bass and drums and that was my main vision for how it would sound.

What did your songwriting process involve?

I spent some time singing random things over the guitar part I had to find a melody that I liked and went from there. I usually try and think of themes or names for songs and keep them somewhere so I can use them when I come up with other ideas.

Is there a story behind the song?

It’s about that kind of uncomfortable feeling of not knowing where you stand with someone, wishing you were as confident as them. It’s also about self confidence and feeling shy. Everyone gets shy but I think sometimes you can forget that it’s a universal feeling and feel bad about yourself.

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Evolving pop music.

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

Studying at BIMM has made me feel a lot more confident about my ability to make music and perform it to people. I still feel lucky to be able to go here. II think it’s one of those things that you don’t appreciate enough when you’re doing it.. I think I’ll look at being at BIMM and miss it a lot.
