What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?

The story of the track is more to do with its associations over the past two years. It has been linked to a death in my immediate family as well as to a period of personal illness when I needed to tell myself that I was okay. For these reasons it’s a very special song to me.

How did you write this song?

The song evolved over time. Initially it was two verses and an 8-line chorus. After starting at BIMM I added a bridge and shortened the chorus. I think it’s a stronger song now.

Do you have a favourite line/section of the song?

Probably the bridge section – “Always feeling lonely, always something missing, but she’s okay.”

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Almost… quirky folk/pop/rock!

How do you feel your sound has developed from studying at BIMM?

I’ve been more open to trying different things – different ways of writing, using a wider range of chords. I think my songs are more interesting for the listener now. And I realise how different production styles can give a song a completely different sound.

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

Getting to follow my dream…
