What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?
Our new track ‘Glory’ is about discovering intimacy and promoting positive feminine sexuality by feeling strong in your identity.
What did your process involve?
Once Siobhan had the chords it was about finding that stab to them and that groove which allowed the flow of the melody writing to be endless. From this we had the idea to make the song have a push and pull element in having the verses large and the chorus dropped down, giving it more impact. Bringing all the instrumentation in was what really brought the song to life.
Do you have a favourite line/section of the song?
‘I am fire, he is ice’ is our favourite line. It has the most impact in the track with the instruments dropping out, and it carries the sass we wanted in the song.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
Soul, pop and fierce. We aren’t afraid of the word ‘pop’; we want to embrace it if that’s what people hear in the track, but what we hear is that soul background and Siobhan’s fierce attitude in the lyrics.
What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
Networking. The connections we’ve made, whether that’s friends, other bands or tutors, are invaluable to us.
