What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?

The theme of ‘Bodyback’ is the destruction of nature and mother earth, particularly over the last few decades. Our music video reflects this through some Alice In Wonderland-style surrealism. We made the video with Kat Pollu who also painted the artwork for the single. she completely captured the essence of the music.

How did you write this song?

Josh produced the track and showed me (Ebony) the song. I immediately got the chorus’ main melody in my head and the lyrics came alongside the shape of the phrase. The rest of the song flowed from that one line; it seemed to write itself. We decided to create the project based around this tune, and have written many songs together since.

Do you have a favourite line/section of the song?

I love the funky instrumental phrases that appear between some of the lines – and the sound effects!

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Spooky, strange and soulful.

How do you feel your sound has developed from studying at BIMM?

Being in a range of different projects has allowed my voice to develop and I’ve gained skills due to expanding my music taste from having musical friends. Plus, without meeting Josh I would never have been able to sing on something so well produced and perfect for my style!

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

Meeting people. Whether it’s to form projects or to have people with a similar mindset in your life, it’s a brilliant way to plant yourself in creative surroundings.
