What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?

For ‘Rush’ it was quite easy! I simply wanted to create a minimalistic, fun and catchy song. A little naughty and sexy, yet classy! The aim was to write a funky song, where the listener could just dance and sing along, without having to think about the busy lives we’re all living!

How did you approach writing this song?

I started creating the instrumentals to the track first. I began recording minimal, organic elements with my voice – blobs and clicks with the tongue and started building up from there. I then got my producer, J-MOX, on board who started developing the track. I was also co-writing the top-line with a songwriter friend of mine, Nathan Trent. We had the song down within two hours, but until it was all ready to go, polished and 100% perfected, it did take some more weeks to finish.

Do you have a favourite line/section of the song?

I really love the pre-chorus! And my fav line is “Wanna be your only treasure”.

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Blue-Eyed Pop (Soulful, Funky, Pop)

How do you feel your sound has developed from studying at BIMM?

I already concentrated on writing and releasing music from the very beginning of my studies. In 2017, I released my first few featured singles, which did great, thankfully ;-). Over time, I feel my music has developed into a more original and funkier sound. However, it’s an endless journey of learning, experimenting and feeling what you wanna create with your music.

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

Definitely, the lovely people you meet! The students and tutors are all amazing. You get to work with so many talented artists, creatives and open-minded individuals who you can learn and take so much from. And you can dive into new genres and styles at the same time! You meet industry experts and can connect to the ‘real’ music world straight away! I absolutely enjoy that – it’s great!
