Behind the Track: LUCASV

What was the inspiration behind your track?

As always, I was just playing around on my piano and I ended up finding those three chords. I wanted something a little bit different than what I usually do, more ‘dancy’, so I used a faster tempo and I also sang for the first time on one of my songs.

What did your process involve?

The first thing that comes to my mind is that night when I recorded the vocals, I was on holiday in Paris with very limited access to equipment.  I found an old very cheap dynamic microphone, used a sock as a pop filter and recorded the vocals in my bed. I was nearly falling asleep.

Most of the synth and effects you can hear are presets that I made from scratch.  I really wanted to have “my” sound – people to know me as a sound in particular more than an image you know?

Different atmospheres during the song: ambient, dancy, and inevitably a jazzy and trap touch.

So I recorded everything in Paris during summer and mixed it in Brighton where all my equipment was.

Is there a story behind the track?

Perhaps, you tell me 🙂

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Cloud – Waves – LUCASV

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

I really like the teachers we have in Music Production and as I said earlier, being able to have hands on the best recording studio/equipment in Brighton to learn, record and mix.
