What was the inspiration behind your track?
I wrote the song in Newquay Airport. The whole album is based on my family moving from the Isle of Man to Cornwall, though my base is here in Brighton. The song is really about leaving my family after spending some time in the Cornish sea, where I was going next, starting my 3rd year at uni, and having hope that me and my friends will all become rich and famous in successful bands.. ha!
What did your songwriting process involve?
Ahh, the usual; feeling emotional in an airport, drawing ugly business men from across the departures lounge, scribbling lyrics. Then working out some chords on my half-broken chord organ and putting them all together. I tend to write the songs as I record.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
I met my band mates in Penelope Isles at BIMM. Plus Jon Stewart is one of the greatest lecturers ever. He has taught me more than anyone! Give him a pay rise!
