What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?

The song ’’My Dream’’ was composed back in 2013 and I played it live with my first band. But since then the song hadn’t been recorded in the studio. Later in 2017, I moved to London to study at BIMM. There I met future band mates, with whom I started rehearsing and recording ’’My Dream’’. It feels like a long journey, but also very inspiring now the song is out.

’’My Dream’’ is about your inner voice trying to lead you to true purpose. Sometimes this voice is very quiet, and people don’t hear it, wasting their time on unnecessary things. Inspiration came to me when I was reflecting on my true purpose. For me, it means to be a musician and express myself through the music. For the last 5 years, I have evolved in this direction and hope that my song will inspire other people too. ’’My Dream’’ is telling a story of my music life and means a lot to me.

How did you write this song?

I was improvising on my guitar and then first chords came up, which I’ve used for the verse section. They are quite slow and melancholic. In the chorus, I wanted to add a rhythmic guitar part, so I composed a more vivid and funky riff later. When the basic harmony was ready, I wrote the lyrics.
During studies at BIMM, I improved the song structure by adding a pre-chorus section and a guitar solo. The vocal was written by Deanna, the lead vocalist in our band.

Do you have a favourite line/section of the song?

My favourite section of the song is the second chorus, because it creates culmination and introduces the guitar solo. I think that it is the most emotional part.

Can you describe your sound in three words?

Dreamy, gentle, atmospheric.

How do you feel your sound has developed from studying at BIMM?

I’ve started to pay more attention to my technique and note choices. This has raised the quality of sound and improved my songwriting decisions.

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?

For me it is being together with people who want to achieve success in music.
It is very inspiring and gives you an additional push to move forward.
