What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?
The idea of this song came from an intense personal experience that I lived through and I felt the need to put into words through a song.
It’s about a fight between two parents from the point of view of the child, who tells how he is affected by the things that are going on in his family life. I felt a major relief when I wrote the song and apparently it helped a friend of mine who was facing some difficulties in his life as well. The idea that my music can help someone to feel better is the most rewarding thing I could ever imagine.
How did you approach writing this song?
I wrote this song with a great songwriter and friend of mine, Marius Bear, during my time in Switzerland.
We wrote the lyrics and song structure together then I arranged and recorded everything back in Italy where I’m based.
I always start with the guitar, humming a melody, and I try to put structure into what I’m writing. Sometimes the lyrics come together with the music and sometimes they come at different moments.
Do you have a favourite line/section of the song?
I really like the vocal melody of the bridge section for its articulation and sound. The voice has been treated with a harmoniser in order to sound more robotic and deep.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
Simple, intimate and creative.
How do you feel your sound has developed from studying at BIMM?
I am now more aware of how a song is structured and how each section of the song behaves in a different way. I also feel like I am more capable of controlling the chord-choices of the song so I can compose whilst staying on a clearer path.
What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
The great connections and networks that you can establish with other musicians. If you nurture your connections and seek for opportunities then doors will open.
