What was the inspiration behind your track?
‘Our Own Way’ is a song that talks about having a breakthrough moment in overcoming what was stopping you from being fully yourself. When I wrote this song I was still with a girl but deep down I knew I wanted something else, I needed to go my own way and finally embrace myself.
Do you have a favourite line/section of the song?
Besides the chorus, I love the first part of the second verse, when I wrote ‘It feels so good when you win your battles, it feels so good when you survive yours struggles‘ – overcoming your fears is such an empowering moment in a person’s life, and those lines have been an incredible mantra throughout my journey towards self-acceptance.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
Pop, Dark/Moody, Electronic.
How do you feel your sound has developed since you Graduated from BIMM?
It feels more refined and clear, I know what direction I’m going for and I’m creating my own lane.
Anything exciting coming up over the next few months you can share?
I’m performing at the Charing Cross Theatre on the 29th of April, and then on the 7th of July I’ll be playing at London Pride on the Trafalgar Square main stage.
