What was the inspiration/is there a story behind your track?
The song was inspired from a day where I just didn’t want to leave the house. We all have days like that and it’s really about turning negative emotions into a positive message. It’s ok to have some time away from the world.
How did you approach writing this song?
I wrote the song on guitar. I had the start of the chord progression then the words and melody and the rest of the progression all seemed to come at the same time – very natural and honest.
Do you have a favourite line/section of the song?
One of my favourite lines is “We’ll sing along to Billie Holiday, then Sam Cooke will lead the way”. Two amazing artists who I admire and I thought it was a nice addition to the story, singing along to other great singers.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
Honest, melodic and refreshing.
How do you feel your sound has developed from studying at BIMM?
I’ve been able to meet lots of like-minded people and we all push each other to become better musicians and writers which has allowed me to find my own unique voice.
What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
The best thing about studying at BIMM is being able to connect with so many other people who are passionate about the same thing as you. Lots of connections are made and there are plenty of opportunities to create long lasting relationships.
